High Availability Solutions

Balance, mitigate, replicate

Whether your business requires High Availability for applications, data sets or entire sites, the first tasks is to define the business requirements that define mission critical services and their related service levels. MYRA conducts an assessment of your business needs against your current infrastructure to develop a solution tailored to your business infrastructure. Through analysis and discussion the following high-level factors are established:

  • Identification of business applications that require uninterrupted availability
  • Define "high availability" or each service (ie. 5 9's or 24x7)
  • High Availability requirements in change windows
  • Recovery goals

Once the business requirements are clearly understood, a solution will be developed for either the business as a whole or for each business application. Your business requirements may demand a combination of server and application redundancy or load balancing solutions, data availability or site to site replication solutions.

Examples of Services:

  • High Availability Analysis and Design
  • Load Balancing or Replication Solutions (EMC, Symantec, SUN)
  • Cluster Solutions (Symantec, Solaris, Windows)
  • Virtualization Solutions(Server, Storage)
  • Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity

Feature Story:

A Lower Mainland municipality was facing an end-of-life issue on an aging Alpha VMS server and needed a new computing environment to support twelve production, test, development and training Oracle database instances, to reduce run times for large reports, to leverage 5-year projected growth, and to gain a highly available/easily recoverable environment. MYRA implemented a pair of Sun Microsystems T6000 series SPARC blades and utilized capped containers and LDOMS to provide a fully redundant, highly available environment that met and exceeded the initiative's objectives, including the provision of real time failover.
