MYRA FAQs

1.  What services are available today? What services are available in the future?

MYRA Systems is a technical support organization which services customers requiring highly available, large scale server environments for both UNIX and NT.

Our Facilities Management Service is a three tiered service model which includes bundled or unbundled Core, Premium and Management Services. Under this model, MYRA provides a dedicated management team in conjunction with a skilled group of technical specialists on an optional 24 x 7 basis.

MYRA's Data Centre Services include providing Application Service Providers (ASP) and Corporate Internet Service Providers (ISP) hosting, Business Continuity Planning, Security and geographic redundancy services.

Over the past 15 years, MYRA has developed standardized processes and Best Practices for our core competencies and our Premium Services. MYRA's Premium Services, such as Capacity Planning, help solve specific mission critical and large scale server planning and management problems by helping you to automate your processes and save you time and money.

2.  Are MYRA's Services less expensive than performing them ourselves?

The cost of MYRA Services is usually slightly less than the cost of having your own team of comparable experts to deploy and scale your IT environment's operations. MYRA's staff have the experience and training to provide support to your environment. Plus, MYRA's set of core competencies includes many offerings that most companies and organizations typically cannot realize quickly, such as 24 x 7 pager service, Hotline services, multi-tiered monitoring, data centre redundancy and capacity planning.

3.  Why should MYRA run my IT Operations unit?

At MYRA, running large scale, mission critical sites is what we do. Over a decade of managing and consulting with many of the Pacific Northwest's corporations and government institutions has allowed MYRA to develop a trusted and proven methodology to provide infrastructure services on advanced networking, security, desktop and server technologies.

Partnering with MYRA allows you to create a rock solid operations environment so that you can focus on your business.

4.  How can MYRA set 100% uptime as one of their corporate goals?

MYRA, in conjunction with your IT staff, does everything it can to plan, manage and maintain a robust, redundant environment to deliver as close to 100% uptime as possible outside of established maintenance windows. With your commitment and cooperation and our operation rigor and proven processes and procedures, combined with our 24 x 7 monitoring tools, we, at MYRA, are confident in our ability to maintain our high uptime standards.

5.  How do I know that MYRA has the expertise to run my site or plan my future infrastructure needs?

The MYRA Team encompasses significant depth in operational methodology. Our available resources include System Administrators, Security Experts, Network Engineers, Deployment Specialists and Service Delivery Managers. Our experts have run some of the biggest and most critical government sites in British Columbia.

In addition, through our partnerships with Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Compaq and Cisco, we are dedicated to making sure that you have the expertise available to plan, manage and operate your IT infrastructure and keep your site running virtually 100% of the time.

6.  What type of customers are your services intended for? What if I already have an operations team? Do you replace them?

For companies with existing operations teams, we do not seek to replace existing operations personnel. Instead, we work closely with them to design and optimize their site freeing existing staff from the tedium of day to day operational tasks, supplementing existing staff during holidays and for large projects, and augmenting them by performing Premium Services.

7.  Do you have your own data centres?

MYRA has its own data centre and the expertise within this facility to augment and secure your IT infrastructures with our Firewall and Business Continuity Planning services. As well, we are ASP and Corporate ISP providers.

8.  What platforms do you support? What databases? What applications servers?

MYRA supports most of the major platforms and software applications used for large scalable Operations environments. These include Solaris, Windows 2000, NT, Linux, Apache, Citrix, Cisco and more. MYRA's commitment to training and certification for our technical specialists gives our team the confidence and ability to correctly configure and manage your environment, and also direct you in your future technology needs.
