Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 a year

We are building our hard-working team with the addition of a Network Technical Specialist in our Victoria office, Vancouver, or Vancouver Island in British Columbia.


Role Overview:

As a Network Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, administration, and escalation support for our customer’s network environment. The ideal candidate will be multi-disciplined and will have a proven track record in network implementation and administration using Cisco technologies.

Preference will be given to applicants with current exam certifications in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Applicants moving through the interview process could be required to produce validation of active certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage network environments for customers including: Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and security software support

  • Collaborate with the IT team to assess the organization’s network requirements and coordinate the development and maintenance of network infrastructures

  • Support: supporting and troubleshooting of customers Network environment

  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability

  • Teamwork: working closely with technical teams and project managers, external vendor partners, and customers to ensure smooth implementations and transitions

  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues and ensure rapid resolution of network problems.

  • Stay current with technological developments in network administration technology and recommend ways for the company to take advantage of new technology.

 

Requirements

  • 3 years experience managing Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and security software

  • Experience in a Managed Services environment

  • Comprehension of the basic fundamentals of server and desktop virtualization and/or knowledge of Microsoft, VMware or Citrix virtualization platforms

  • Comprehension of the basic fundamentals of storage equipment such as EMC, HP, Nimble, or others

  • Familiarity with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and adherence to ticketing systems.

  • Proven strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.

  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude towards learning new technologies and processes.

  • Understanding of ITIL framework

  • Provide on-call network support (team rotation)

  • Willingness to visit client locations and perform network support outside of business hours

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and beyond.

  • Additional certifications in relevant technologies (Microsoft)

  • Additional knowledge and experience related to cybersecurity.
