We are building our hard-working team with the addition of a Systems Administrator - VMware / Virtualization Specialist in our Victoria office, Vancouver, or Vancouver Island in British Columbia.


Role Overview:

As a Systems Administrator - VMware/Virtualization Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, administration, and escalation support for our customer’s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be multi-disciplined and will have a proven track record in VMware virtualization technologies, Microsoft administration, cloud administration, storage devices and backup infrastructure.

Preference will be given to applicants with current exam certifications in VCP - VMWare Certified Professional and VMCE (Veeam Certified Engineer), others? Applicants moving through the interview process could be required to produce validation of active certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain a VMware virtual environment, including vSphere and vCenter servers.

  • Design, implement and maintain backup infrastructure such as, Veeam Backups and replication to ensure data integrity

  • Monitoring system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.

  • Identify and remediate any issues related to VMware or Veeam backup solutions.

  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues and ensure rapid resolution of problems.

  • Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommend ways for the company to take advantage of new technology.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of VMware/Virtualization and backup Admin in IT environments

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience in a Managed Services environment

  • Familiarity with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and adherence to ticketing systems.

  • ·roven strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric approach.

  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude towards learning new technologies and processes.

  • Understanding of ITIL framework

  • Provide on-call support (team rotation)

  • Must be able to produce vendor specific exam certifications (e.g. VMware, Veeam, Microsoft)

  • Willingness to visit client locations and perform infrastructure support outside of business hours

 

Nice to Have

  • Additional certifications in relevant technologies (Azure Cloud)

  • Additional knowledge and experience related to cybersecurity.

  • Experience with additional operating systems beyond Microsoft Windows.
